A somber day in Galien as the community deals with a big loss. Financial struggles forced the School Board to close the Township's school.
Wednesday was the last official day off class. "It's a small town that doesn't have a lot left and this school might be the last part of this town and it's a death," said Superintendent Tim Allard.
It's heartbreaking for those who've studied and worked here for decades to leave these hallways behind. "They'll make it, but I've seen other towns that they shrivel up," said teacher Bruce Marchke. "So I hope that doesn't happen here."
School board members say the had hoped to keep the district open, but the finances simply made it impossible to continue.
