A fire damaged a home in Elkhart Thursday night.
It happened at 10:30 p.m. on the 400 block of West Marion Street. Neighbors say they saw flames and smoke coming from the back of the house.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire fairly quickly. They say the house sustained smoke and fire damage in the basement where they believe the fire started.
There were six people and pets inside the house when it happened. They were all able to get out of the building uninjured.
The Elkhart County Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering the family assistance.
