Police say two Amish children from Marshall County are in critical condition after a Friday afternoon buggy accident near Etna Green in Kosciusko County
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department says a 911 call came in around 2:30 about the accident. According to police, the children's mother had been preparing to leave a home in the 6800 block of North County Road 750 West when the horse pulling the buggy suddenly backed up, causing the buggy to flip on its side. Police say the two small children slid into an open area of the buggy and were trapped as the horse pulled the buggy about 50 yards on the stone driveway.
After stopping the horse, police say the 3-year-old and 1-year-old girls inside the buggy were pulled out and Amish families attempted to call and get help for the girls from a nearby location.
Both children were flown to a Fort Wayne hospital where police say they were last listed in critical condition.
