Chef and Bravo's "Around the World in 80 Plates" reality cable series contestant Gary Walker is preparing a 5-course dinner with some of the proceeds benefiting Earthworks Urban Farm of Detroit.
The dinner is scheduled Friday night at the Spice & Tea Exchange of Birmingham, north of Detroit. It is inspired by Walker's time on the popular television culinary competition.
Walker was voted off the show last week.
He is a Detroit native, Wayne State University graduate and owner of a Chicago-based catering company.
Earthworks Urban Farm runs a 1.5-acre farm and apiary, hosts classes for Detroit gardeners and holds youth programs. It is a program of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
