Saint Joseph County Commissioners have enacted a burn ban that will go into effect Friday morning at 6:00am.
The ban will remain in effect until the board of commissioners votes to end it. No word yet on when that is expected.
Commission President Andrew Kostielney tells FOX28 News they've been talking with county fire chiefs about the bans for a few days.
The National Weather Service says with no rain this weekend, the dry conditions will only get worse, increasing the area's fire danger.
The city of South Bend has also issued a ban to coordinate with the county ban. It also begins at 6:00am on Friday.
