NASCAR driver Tony Stewart knows how to honor a commitment. Unfortunately, mother nature had really bad timing for some much needed rain.
For more than 6 months, Plymouth Speedway has been promoting the sprints on dirt race featuring Stewart.
But race day proved to be challenging.
The new fast asphalt at Michigan International caused blistering of the Goodyear tires, so drivers had to stay for an extra practice session.
As soon as practice was complete, Stewart was helicoptered to Plymouth. This is a picture sent to us from the track.
He arrived just before 10 o'clock and then the rain came. Racing never got under way because of the weather.
Stewart has pledged to return August 18th.
