Business owners and health organizations had an opportunity to voice their concerns about the proposed smoking ban in South Bend on Monday.
South Bend's Council members held a committee meeting Monday night to discuss the proposed ordinance.
Jacob Hughes with the St. Joe County Minority Health Coalition supported the ban, saying that he believes people should be able to go to work without being "bombarded with smoke" and that being healthy is an important issue.
Others who spoke say the ordinance should dropped because, if passed, it would create an unfair playing field with businesses in neighboring towns.
