Overnight accident puts man in hospital

One man is in the hospital after an accident in South Bend.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday on Portage Avenue. That's on the city's far northwest side. Police say an SUV took out a power line before running into a tree. A truck, also involved in the accident, ended up on its roof.

Portage Avenue was shut down for awhile overnight. But dispatchers tell Fox 28 the road is open again.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the crash happened. We're told they are interviewing witnesses about the incident.
