Sturgis sentenced to 140 years

Posted:

The man convicted of killing his 10-year-old son and other child abuse charges was sentenced to 140 years in prison on Thursday.

Terry Sturgis was convicted of 14 counts related to the death of his son Tramelle and the battery of his two other sons back in May.

At sentencing, Sturgis said he would come home and his daughter would be crying and his (older) son would be standing in her doorway. He accused his older son of molesting his daughter.  At that point, the judge stopped him and said it is not a soapbox and told him it needed to be pertinent.

Sturgis said he was a good father and that he cries every night in his cell alone.  He also did say he was sorry it happened.

After Sturgis' statement, the Judge Woodward-Miller said there was a stunning lack of remorse from Sturgis. When putting together the sentence, she says this was the "worst of the worst - literally."

In court, Tramelle's mother said Terry Sturgis has never said he was sorry to her.  As she spoke, Sturgis seemed agitated, rolling his head around.

Tarry Sturgis' mother, Dellia Castile is charged with Neglect in relation to Tramelle's death.  She is scheduled to appear in court in early October.
