Two hundred people gathered at the Century Center in South Bend to discuss how to grow our economy and breakdown barriers.
The South Bend Economic Summit included panelists who represent different areas of the community. Everything from safety, and neighborhoods, to people who specialize in business analysis were on hand.
They talked about how to attract more retail downtown and how to make better use of the river, But the event also stressed that creating jobs is up to all of us.
"The reality is everybody is a spokesperson for South Bend," said Mayor Pete Buttigieg. "Every business person, every family, every individual has to go out there and tell a story about where South Bend is headed and why there should want to invest here."
Some of the attendees were actually businesses interested in creating jobs here.
