Olympic dreams for several of our local athletes have not come true as time trials have been brutal so far.
Saturday, LaSalle grad Leroy Dixon and Winamac's Shane Crawford were eliminated in the 100 meter prelims.
Would Sunday be any better for the field events?
Notre Dame's Mary Saxer came so close, but not quite enough.
Saxer finished 4th in the pole vault with a height of 14-feet-9 inches. She tied with Lacy Johnson.
The tie breaker is based on which jumper cleared the height first.
Mary got it on her second attempt, while Johnson cleared it on the first try.
She tells correspondent Tim Creason, the result is heart breaking, only the top three make Team USA.
