Parents, you'll have to sign another form this year regarding concussions, before your high school athlete will be allowed on the field.
A new law will go into effect on July 1st that requires parents and students to sign a form saying they understand the risks associated with playing sports.
It also requires athletes come out of the game immediately if they show symptoms of a concussion, and they can't come back in until they've been cleared.
"The health care provider is obligated to provide that school and coach with a plan," says neurologist Dr. Jody Neer with IU Goshen Health.
Concord High School's football coach says this isn't new for them, they'd been doing this already.
They also have student athletes take a baseline test at the beginning of the season and they compare if it with another if they're injured.
"It's a great precaution and I think coaches just have to remember one thing: You're a parent. Put your 'parent' hat on, and I do that as a coach and remember we want our players to be safe," says coach Tim Dawson.
The law doesn't just concern football.
All high school athletes, no matter which sport they play, will be required to follow the new rules.
