Another thing to think about when it comes to fireworks, whether they are consumer approved fireworks or illegal homemade fireworks.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission held their annual fireworks safety event on the National Mall in Washington Tuesday.
They demonstrated how dangerous fireworks can be.
The C-P-S-C say it's very important to buy consumer-approved fireworks, rather than cheaper, unregulated ones.
"They should be aware that there are also illegally manufactured explosive devices that are sold from some of the same locations that consumer fireworks are sold from. The differences, again, will be there will likely be a fuse or waxy type item that leads towards the device itself," said Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Agent Arthur Herbert. "There will be less likely any type of manufacturing directions or manufacturing directions and consumers should avoid those."
While any firework can hurt you, the C-P-S-C says illegal or homemade fireworks typically cause more severe damage.
The C-P-S-C says exploding illegal products led to all four reported fireworks-related deaths last year.
