A Fort Wayne man whose two children
were hurt when explosives blew up inside his apartment now faces charges of
child neglect and possession of a destructive device.
Allen County prosecutors filed the charges
Wednesday against 43-year-old Robert Erb. The Journal Gazette reports
(http://bit.ly/MDkC8A ) court documents say an explosive substance Erb made
blew up as he was chipping at it with a chisel.
Police say Erb lost a hand in the January explosion at the River Cove
complex on the city's northeast side.
Court records say the blast caused hearing loss to his son and cut his
face, neck and arms. The girl suffered cuts to her face, arms and chest.
Erb was being held in the Allen County Jail. Court records on Thursday
didn't list a defense attorney.
