Dylan Shumaker is going to be a sophomore at Bremen High School. He's a wrestler and a football player. Thursday the community came together to help him with his fight against cancer.
More than 300 people, classmates, friends, family, and community members came together on the little league field where he once played. After they got together, Dylan and his family arrrived. The 15 year old discovered last week that he had 4 cancerous tumors. He was immediately taken to Riley Children's Hospital. After having a biopsy taken from his back, he was released to come home before taking the next step. After meeting with friends, Dylan talked to me about the outpouring of support that he had just experienced. He said he does believe he will beat this. And he will never give up. Especially after seeing the support that is all around him.
A popular student at Bremen, he wants his friends to know that he's doing alright. His world has been turned upside down, but he's still a normal kid and he wants them to know that they should get in touch with him just like they always have.
