Clay Fire Territory firefighters are asking people to take extra precautions if they choose to use fireworks to celebrate the holiday.
In a video demonstration on Friday, firefighters showed grass catch fire after sparks from a fountain hit the ground.
They recommend people refrain from using fireworks which leave the ground. If you do intend to shoot off fireworks, wet down the area throughout the day. Keep the hose around so you can wet down the area again after you shoot off the fireworks.
They also remind people you are only allowed to shoot off fireworks from June 29-July 9 and not after 11:00 p.m., except for July 4 when the cutoff is midnight.
