I can remember going to Culver to play Little League baseball. It seemed like a long ways a way as a kid. Then when I played high school tennis against kids at CMA, the beauty of the lake out in the distance was breath taking.
Well, this town has improved a lot in the last 20 years. Nice restaurants and people who live their year round who take a lot of pride in their hometown.
On the edge of Lake Maxincukee, Culver almost doubles in size during the summer. It's the second largest lake in Indiana and alone with beautiful homes and nice restaurants the lake adds beauty that can be seen almost everywhere in town.
The town itself is made up of working class people and there is a lot of pride in keeping things nice.
The public high school has the Culver Cavaliers. Football and girls basketball have really prospered and 2 years ago they had the state's heavyweight state wrestling champ.
The jewel of this town rests on the East Side. Since 1894 CMA has been home to some of the best and brightest young minds. And in 1971 it became co-ed making it even more appealing. The enrollment is close to 800 and tuition is just over $32-thousand dollars a year.
The alumni base is no doubt a who's who. Pitcher Randy Johnson's son recently went there and how about these former students.
