Muffet McGraw has turned Notre Dame into one of the most prominent women's basketball programs in the country. She has lead the Irish to a National Championship, three Final Fours and back-to-back National Runner-up finishes.
McGraw has been rewarded for her efforts with a 10 year contract extension and she says she is happy to continue to call South Bend home.
"It's a privilege to be able to represent Notre Dame, in what is certainly the greatest job in the world, for another 10 years," McGraw said. "I've been so blessed to work with some incredibly talented people, both in terms of the student-athletes that have come through Notre Dame, and the coaches and staff who have been part of our success through the years."
When McGraw was hired 25 years ago, she had big goals for the Irish.
She has certainly lived up to those expectations, with a career record of 591 wins and 215 losses. She led the Irish to the 2001 National Championship.
In 19 NCAA tournament appearances, including 17 in a row. She knows she doesn't have that kind of success on her own.
And that Irish family has shown their support over the years. FOX 28 caught up with several former players at the pep rally before the 2011 National Championship game.
Now with her extension, McGraw will be around for a whole new generation of success.
