Elkhart County firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire that ripped through a car in Cleveland Township, just feet away from a garage.
It happened just after 1:30 Tuesday morning in a driveway on Oak Manor Place. Firefighters say they were not able to get too close to the car because of an active power line that had fallen on top of it.
AEP didn't arrive on the scene until 2:30 to cut the power so crews could fully tend to the fire. At that point, firefighters say the car was a total loss.
Extra man power was called out to the scene just in case the fire in the car would spread to the house.
