Police say two people were seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash on U.S. 30 near Pierceton Thursday.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department got a call about the accident near County Road 450 East around 11:50 a.m. Witnesses told police two people were thrown from a Honda Gold Wing after the rear wheel blew.
The driver of the motorcycle, 44-year-old Thomas Harwood of Bourbonnais, Illinois, suffered serious injuries to his head and extremities, including extensive road-rash. Police say his wife, 39-year-old Paula Harwood, may have been struck by the motorcycle during the crash. She was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital where she was last reported in critical condition due to a severe head injury. Police say neither was wearing a helmet.
The crash is still under investigation. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
