Triple digit temperatures are expected to continue into Saturday. Many of us will be hunting for ways to keep cool.
The City of South Bend will open three cooling centers across the City to offer residents relief from the heat index, which is expected to climb over 100 degrees Saturday. The cooling centers will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The following locations will operate as cooling centers:
Charles Black Center
3419 West Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46619
(574) 235-9446
O'Brien Center (Board Room)
321 East Walter Street, South Bend, IN 46614
(574) 299-3482
Martin Luther King Center
1522 W. Linden, South Bend, IN 46619
(574) 235-9445
The City also recommends that resident use public facilities (libraries, malls, stores, restaurants, etc.) as alternate locations for relief from the heat index. Getting out of the house can also be a way to save money on that electric bill.
