investigator was taken to the hospital after an incident involving a firearm.
The Elkhart County Prosecutor's
Office says Investigator Dave Floerchinger was trying to serve a warrant in the
500-block of Sherman in Elkhart early Wednesday.
Prosecutors say he called for help when
some people approached him, one of whom fired a gun.
Prosecutors say Floerchinger and his
vehicle were hit by some projectiles. He was taken to the hospital to be
checked out and was later released.
Elkhart
Police say they had enough information to arrest 18-year-old Guillermo Belmares
for his involvement. Belmares is being held at the Elkhart County Jail on an attempted
murder charge and is scheduled for a court hearing Saturday morning.
