The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says an ultralight
made an emergency landing into a field near the Nappanee Airport
Friday evening.
Police say David Cooper of Edwardsburg was heading east toward
a private airstrip in Ligonier when he had engine problems. He landed in a
cornfield north of U.S. 6 and east of County Road 13. Cooper was not hurt and
the ultralight suffered only minor damage.
The
Sheriff's Department says they're still investigating what happened and are forwarding
their information to the FAA for review.
