We've been warning you about the
heat all week and temperatures were in the hundreds again Saturday. It actually got at hot as 104 in Goshen. But that didn't stop tens of thousands from
braving the blistering temps to watch the Red Bull RedBud National races in Buchanan, Michigan.
Today was the big day for the racing
event and fans said it's too big to miss, even if it's dangerously hot outside.
The excitement of fast moving
dirt bikes always draws a crowd of all ages.
But triple digit temperatures tend to keep crowds indoors in the air
conditioning. Not the case when it comes
to the Redbud National. Travis Mieema said, "I think it's awesome. A lot of people a lot of things going
on."
For those who come to the motocross
championship every year they say this years crowd is no different than when
there's been cooler temps. Ask anyone
and they'll tell you a ton of people attended the event. Nine year old Gage Barker thinks there were
about, " 2 billion."
Maybe not quite that many, but unlike
other years race watchers had to be careful not to get sick in the hot sun. And everyone had their own methods for
beating the heat. Mieema said, "less clothes, more water and
coconuts."
No one seemed to mind having to lug
extra cold drinks around though. The
heat proved no match for hardcore racing fans.
The heat didn't even stop those who've never experienced Red Bud before. Mieema "This
is my first time," said Mieema.
