A
man hurt his arm and hand and suffered burns to his body after police say he tried
to light a homemade firework.
The
Cass County Sheriff's Department says it happened Saturday evening at a home on
Magician Lake
in Silver Creek Township.
Police
say 42-year-old Charles Harbin of Riverside,
Illinois built the homemade firework
from a paper towel tube and black powder. When he tried to light it, it blew up,
injuring his right hand and arm.
Harbin was flown to a Kalamazoo hospital's burn
center for treatment.
