An Elkhart County family had fire practically knocking on their front door when a grass fire broke out on their lawn Tuesday afternoon.
The fire happened on the 30000 block of CR-30 in Wakarusa. No one was injured, and the fire department was able to get the fire out quickly, but the home's front lawn was completely scorched.
Several grass fires have struck the area as drought conditions continue. There is a chance of rain this weekend, but it will likely not be enough to have a large impact.
