South Bend's Vacant and Abandoned Housing Task Force met Wednesday afternoon to discuss more ideas.
The group is still looking for input from the public but also sharing information to residents.
The focus of today's meeting...land banks.
This idea is being discussed as possible state legislation.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg says land banks would be beneficial to the city.
"The idea of a land bank is it creates an instrument that would allow the city or county to act on some of these abandoned properties in ways we can't do right now," said South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg. "The bottom line is we have these properties all throughout the community and we need an orderly way to make sure their is some control over them and quickly return them to the market."
The group is due to make recommendations by late summer or early fall.
