Former South Bend Police Chief Daryl Boykins met with the public Wednesday.
Boykins was demoted earlier this year after a Federal Investigation into the recording of police phone calls.
A group called "Citizens United for a Better Government" has been demanding the release of those recordings ever since.
The Chief spoke at Emmanual Community Church tonight to thank thank the group for its support.
"You know realizing that theirs litigation at least proposed litigation right now," said Citizens United for a Better Government Mario Sims. "We did not expect to get a lot of information but from our standpoint we just wanted the chief to know that we supported him. We also wanted to bring people in..the public had a chance to feel they were empowered in showing up and asking questions."
