This week's challenge had a little more special meaning. South Bend Police Officer Scott Severens was killed in the line of duty April of 2006. His friends and fellow officers recently had a golf outing to help raise money to rebuild the K-9 Training facility for Mishawaka and South Bend officers. As you saw last week, bringing a dog to the course can help our opponents. This week we go to Blackthorn and hole #3.
South Bend K-9 officers Bryan Miller and Tony Dawson are proud to be helping live out Scott's dream by not only working with police dogs, but raising money to build a new training facility in Scott's honor.
Since the last time we played and Rusty the dog beat us. This week at Blackthorn the South Bend Cops brought their dog Benny along for good luck.
Hole #3 is a fun par 3. Elevated tee box. Huge 2-tiered green. The first shot is key. Byan is a lot of fun to play with. No other way to describe him.
While he was having a good time, partner Tony Dawson was serious. A nice high iron. They are dancing on the top tier. I gave us a look. About pin high. This one is off to the left side. It's playable. It just eliminates the chance for a birdie.
Shot #2. Ok. After last weeks debacle, being dry and setting ourselves up for a putt was all we were looking for.
Bryan's putt was a little wide left. Tony put his out on the right side. They had work to do.
Alli gave us a look for par. But she's short. So I could put the pressure on. But that one goes right.
So here goes Tony for the win. Dog Gone It. Can Bryan step up and represent? He'll get it in, but it will take 2 shots.
So we both bogey with a pair of 4's. That means after 14 holes, we're still down by a bunch. It's all about meeting new friends and having fun at this point.
