Elkhart County students at Ivy Tech could see a noticeable drop in tuition costs thanks to a multimillion dollar donation. The $4.1 million gift to the Ivy Tech Elkhart County campus will be used for new scholarship program.
At a ceremony on Thursday Mervin and Dorothy Lung donated the money to the school. To qualify for the scholarship students must be county residents who cannot get government aid, and meet other requirements.
Scholarship recipients would get a discount of about $35 per credit hour. Ivy Tech's usual tuition is $114 per credit hour.
The college also announced they will be expanding their campus to include a new manufacturing training center.
