Work on the State Road 933 Bridge over the Saint Joe River in South Bend is on schedule.
Crews have been busy replacing railings and filling cracks.
The top side will be done to meet the September deadline. Crews will need more time to complete the under side since it needs a little more work.
"It's structural, but one thing we like to stress is this is a really old bridge. It's a one hundred year-old bridge so just like a hundred year-old person you're going to need a lot of maintenance," says INDOT Spokesman Matt Deitchley.
The low level of the river is helping crews finish the project on time.
The bridge will remain open to at least one lane of traffic in each direction until completed.
