Mamas Against Violence wants young people to understand the consequences of their actions.
The group's annual anti-violence conference was held Saturday at Bethel College.
Fifth through 12th graders attended to learn how to combat youth violence.
They listened to speakers and participated in break out sessions that told them violence in the community has gone too far.
"Because they're killing all our loved ones and the people you love and are close to you and like you just don't want your loved ones to die by killing, being killed," says Sha'nia Groves who attended the conference.
Mamas Against Violence also gave out a scholarship to a college student, a computer to a high schooler, and a Nook to a middle schooler.
