The drought is pretty much affecting everything, even things you wouldn't necessarily think of.
It's creating a hay shortage, and that's impacting the Potawatomi Zoo.
Folks at The Potawatomi Zoo say they order hay twice a year and the last time they went to place an order their supplier said he didn't have any.
"If we don't get rain soon, we don't know what the hay supplier are gonna do if they are gonna be able to supply any of us with hay," says Rachel Rogers with the Potawatomi Zoo.
Zoo officials aren't worried about running out of hay because they have plenty right now.
They just don't know how much it will cost when they do find a supplier.
"Out of our $110,000 budget for food, we spend roughly about $17,500 on hay alone. So that's a pretty big chunk of our budget that we're really not sure of," says Rogers.
An expert at the Purdue Extension Office says finding affordable hay is a widespread problem in Indiana.
In fact, the extension office says folks are turning to internet exchanges to see what's available all over the country.
