An Air Quality Action Day is in effect on Tuesday in St. Joseph County, Indiana and Elkhart County. But Ozone levels all across Michiana could reach levels that are unhealthy for sensitive groups of people, thanks to the warm weather.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management wants people to take some precautions to keep Ozone levels down during the action day.
- Carpool, take public transportation, walk or ride a bike
- If you have to drive make sure your car is well-maintained
- Combine trips when running errands
- Shut off your engine when you reach your destination to cut down on idle time
- Avoid using the drive-thru at restaurants
