Another popular restaurant is coming to Mishawaka.
The Golden Corral Franchise put their shovels to the dirt and started digging.
It's the latest business to announce it will open along The Grape Road-Main Street corridor.
The corridor has seen businesses come and go over the years, but now leaders say we're seeing several good signs.
Owners of the new Golden Corral say they specifically wanted to build in the popular corridor, and they aren't alone.
A Noodles and Company, Cheddars, and Whole Foods will also soon join the Grape Road-Main Street corridor.
Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Rea believes the activity is a sign the economy is recovering.
"Restaurants, retailers want to be where their competition is. They know that there's gonna be a lot of people in that area and in that corridor," says Rea.
Rea says businesses aren't willing to invest, unless they see activity, and that's what's happening in Mishawaka.
As for vacant storefronts?
Rea says we might see some activity there too.
"Shortly you should hear some positive announcements about some of those others that are closed where there could be some activity there as well.," says Rea.
Golden Corral owners say they'll begin the hiring process in October.
To start, they're looking to hire between 125 and 150 new employees.
