The chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts was in South Bend Tuesday.
He visited sites that are trying to bring more arts and culture to the community.
One stop on the tour?
The Construction site for the Notre Dame Center for Arts and Culture.
The center will provide space for community programming, arts and education.
It will also feature a fine-art print studio on West Washington.
The area is close to exisitng museums and other cultural venues.
"We're hopeful that at one point this will become recognized as an arts corridor," said Gilberto Cardenas.
The center plans to have a strong focus on Latino and African American Art.
