It's not over til it's over". Use whatever cliche you want, but we had 18 holes planned this year and we're going to do our best until the final shot.
This week we went to Stonehenge in Warsaw.
A couple of radio guys from Willie 103.5 dusted their clubs off. Alli and I think we have amazing chemistry.
But these guys go way back.
Stonehenge is as close to British Open golf as we have around here. They call it target golf.
#6 is 479 yards from the Blue Tees. It's a big dog leg right. But you don't want to go right because the trees will gobble your ball up.
The guys from Willie 103.5 were singing the blues early in this round. You don't want to be looking down there.
They were fortunate though because their drive dinged off a tree and went far enough to give them a look on their 2nd shot.
While Allison's drive had her searching for that club that scoops balls out of the water. I hit one solid about 270. We were in perfect shape.
We found out from these guys, "Where there's a Willie, There's a Way." Coyote and Jay were banging off trees like a smiling woodpecker in a forest.
But they were somehow within 100 after 2 shots. Alli hit a safe one up there for us. That meant I could go for it. 200 yards away, I didn't chance the tree in front of the hole.
The ball stayed right. It was over the creek and we were ready to chip. 103.5 dinged off their 5th tree, but they were sitting 3 and on the green.
So here goes our 3rd shot. A sand wedge from about 30 yards away. Soft hands. That will work. So once again it comes down to that putter. Coyote and Jay had a long way to go.
They gave it a run, and they were in the right area code. Then they waited for us to putt.So here they go for Par. On their home course. Trying to make Lake City proud. It's not that easy.
They scrambled their way around the course for a 6. So Alli had a shot to go for the win and a much needed birdie. That's okay. A good read. Time to go for it. Just don't leave a birdie putt short.
We'll take it. A 2 shot lead doesn't exactly get us back in the game, but we're closer than we were when we started. With 3 holes to go, FOX 28 is now down by 4 strokes. Next week we'll head to Bremen and Sprig O' Mint.
