A 22-year old male resident of McKinley Woods in Mishawaka drowned in the apartment's pool Wednesday evening. Officers say they were dispatched to the apartments around 6:20 where they helped Mishawaka Fire and EMS.
Lenora Smith says that she performed CPR on the man as the victim's brother tried to call for help from the pool's emergency phone. Smith says that phone wasn't working and she had to get her sister to call 911 from her cellphone.
She says the pool doesn't have lifeguards and is frustrated the emergency phone was broken.
The man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released.
