St. Joseph County police are looking for three men suspected of a home invasion that left two people injured and a dog dead.
The victims tell us they were tied up, pistol whipped and beaten. And they think the suspects may have known they have a lot of guns in their house. Rebecca Turner, the female victim, said that two men dressed in blue worker suits with reflective vests knocked on her door around 11 AM Thursday morning. She says they claimed they needed to shut off gas to her furnace because of construction up the road. They even showed Turner what seemed to be legitimate paperwork with signatures from other houses. She says she let one of them into the home and led him up to the furnace. Turner said the man seemed to be carrying on business as usual, turning the furnace on and off. When they came back downstairs the other suspect had Turner's husband in a choke hold as they struggled over a gun.
St. Joseph County Sgt. Bill Redman told FOX28 News that the three men came to a home on Hickory Road claiming to be utility workers. The Granger couple let them in, then the men pulled out a gun and demanded money. During the invasion, the suspects pistol-whipped the woman, punched, kicked, and tied up the man, and shot one of the couples dogs. A second dog was locked up in a crate and was not injured.
The suspects escaped with a TV and other items. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The man refused treatment.
The suspects where said to be driving a white SUV, possibly a newer model Suburban with tinted windows.
