Witnesses say the suspect threatened a store employee with a pair of scissors and demanded cash. Several customers came to help and overpowered the suspect. During the fight, a 43-year-old South Bend man was stabbed in the hand.
Police arrested 29-year-old Adam Leonard of New Carlisle. Captain Phil Trent says Leonard also admitted to a robbery at Bills Liquor and an attempted robbery at a Speedway gas station on Mishawaka Ave. on July 12.
The man who was stabbed was taken to a local hospital for stitches.
