Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees plead guilty on Monday in connection to the incident with police back in May. Rees and linebacker Carlo Calabrese were arrested May 3rd after taking off when police showed up to shut down a party.
Rees released a statement shortly following his guilty plea:
"I apologize to my family, friends, the Notre Dame community, Fighting Irish fans and the South Bend Police Department for my actions this spring. I made a poor decision and I accept full responsibility. I learned a valuable lesson and witnessed first-hand that actions have consequences. This experience will make me a better person and I will focus on being a positive role model and citizen. To those who supported me during this difficult time, I offer my sincerest thanks. To the people I disappointed, I am dedicated to winning back your trust and confidence."
Rees pled guilty to Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and Resisting Law Enforcement. He had also been charged with Battery and a second count of Resisting Law Enforcement.
The plea agreement includes a 30 day suspended sentence, eleven months of administrative probation, 50 hours of community service, and letter of apology to officers involved. He will also need to pay restitution. The amount to be paid will be determined at a hearing on August 20.
