A suspect being pursued by police died after he, presumably, attempted to swallow a bag of marijuana and choked on it.
The chase happened on Saturday when the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Michael Anderson, was driving a moped. A short time into the chase, he hopped off and ran off. Police tried to hit him with a taser, but at least one of the probes missed, having no effect.
Police caught up with Anderson and found him choking. They pulled a plastic baggie from his throat that appeared to have marijuana and a crumpled dollar bill inside.
Medics were unable to revive the man, and he was taken to an area hospital where he died.
The investigation into Anderson's death continues, but the preliminary report from the pathologist has ruled the death accidental asphyxiation.
