A group of volunteers has moved a pair of restored Cold War Era missiles to South Bend. The group's been hard at work for years bringing the Talos missiles back to their former glory.
"They were beat up pretty bad. Paint was faded. They had gouges and scratches and dents," said Building Manager Steve Sandridge. They are looking shiny now, though.
The surface-to-air missiles were originally made in Mishawaka. Back then it was a very secretive process, because they didn't want the technology to get out.
Now that they're restored they are set up at Military Honor Park at the South Bend Airport. The move, that took place Tuesday morning, wasn't easy. They needed two cranes and operators with very delicate touches. They will be carefully put into place on Wednesday.
