Tommy Rees and Carlo Calabrese will not be with the team for Notre Dame's season opener in Dublin.
Head football coach Brian Kelly announced on Tuesday the two are suspended for the opening game.
"Our players understand that it's a privilege to be associated with the University of Notre Dame and its football program, but with that comes great responsibility," Kelly said in a statement. "Carlo and Tommy put themselves in a situation that when given a choice between two distinct paths, they responded with a set of poor decisions."
Rees and Calabrese were arrested in May after a house party in South Bend.
Earlier this month, Rees pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and resisting law enforcement. Rees will receive a 30-day suspended sentence, 11 months of administrative probation and 50 hours of community service. He has an August court date to determine restitution.
Calabrese was charged with misdemeanor intimidation.
"This conduct was inconsistent with my expectations for our football program – especially our veteran, team leaders," said Kelly. "Carlo and Tommy will not travel with the team to Ireland and can attempt to climb the depth chart following the conclusion of their respective suspensions."
