After a long day of packed lines and jammed drive thru's, the manager of Chick-fil-A on Michigan Street in South Bend, came out to a crowd of more than 100 people and told them, there was no more food. He told FOX28 the 'response to the appreciation day was overwhelming' and that 'there was no way to be prepared for what happened throughout the country'. He says he will be working long into the night to figure out a way to open his restaurant for breakfast Thursday morning, there's just no food left.

It happened as Chick-fil-A supporters flocked to the restaurant in Michiana as part of a national "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day." The day proposed by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee comes in response to criticism over the restaurant's CEO's comments opposing gay marriage.

Lines stretched out the door at the Mishawaka and South Bend chains and comments both in support and in opposition of the restaurant appeared on the FOX28 Facebook page.

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the Atlanta-based company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." That unleashed a torrent of criticism from gay rights groups and others, who have called for boycotts and efforts to block the chain from opening new stores.

Opponents of the company's stance are planning "Kiss Mor Chiks" for Friday, when they are encouraging people of the same sex to show up at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country and kiss each other.  Other opponents posted alternative recipes for the chicken sandwich you could make at home.
