As expected, gas prices are on the way up across Michiana.
Around noon Thursday, FOX28 started spotting stations raising their prices to $3.95 a gallon for regular.
GasBuddy.com put out a alert on Wednesday afternoon, saying prices would likely rise 10-35 cents a gallon by Friday evening. GasBuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan told FOX28 there are several reasons for the hike, including problems at some refineries in the Midwest and the partial shutdown of a pipeline. He expects prices will remain high as long as those problems continue.
Michiana was already seeing higher gas prices than the national average. Before prices started to rise, GasBuddy.com says gas in the South Bend area on Thursday was $3.74 a gallon for regular. The national average was $3.54 a gallon.
FOX28 will have more on this story tonight on FOX28 News at 10 and throughout the day on fox28.com.
