A Noble
County man was arrested
after police say he left the scene of a fatal accident with a bicycle and then
when to work.
It happened Thursday morning on County Road 700 South about
one mile west of Topeka.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department says Wilmer Herschberger
was riding a bike westbound on County Road 700 South when he was hit and
killed.
Witnesses told officers the driver of the vehicle that hit Herschberger
drove away. Officers checked the parking lots of area businesses, looking for a
vehicle that matched witness descriptions.
Police say they found a blue van with damage consistent with
the crash in the lot of a business. They found the owner, Zane Scott of
Kendallville, at work.
Scott was arrested and is facing preliminary charges of Leaving
the Scene of a Fatality Accident and Reckless Homicide.
