The girl who nearly drowned at on Osceola home daycare on Thursday remains "very critical" condition, said Metro Homicide on Friday. 22-month-old Skylar Bullocks was flown to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.
Police say she was found unresponsive in the back yard pool at an in-home daycare. The Osceola Police Chief tells me when he got here the woman who runs the day-care was doing CPR. He took over and a firefighter also administered CPR. Now everyone is praying for the little girl to pull through. Neighbors and Parents are shocked this even happened.
"My son who's 15 years old now has been coming to her since he was 6 weeks old. Until he was old enough to stay home alone," said Stacy Miller. She and her son have several fond memories of his years at the in-home daycare in Osceola. "She's always done crafts with the kids, played games," said Miller.
Thursday was a sad day at the daycare as police were called there after a one year old girl was found unresponsive in the back yard pool. Neighbors said the woman who lives there has been running a daycare for more than three decades. Miller said she doesn't know how this could happen, "I do know her and she's a very responsible person."
Once Miller heard the news of the near drowning she and her son drove to Beverly Court. Miller said she just wanted to give her son's old babysitter a hug. "I felt so bad for her because I know how much she loves the kids she babysits for."
Neighbors agree the kids were in good hands at the daycare. They would see the babysitter walk the kids to the bus stop at the corner of the street everyday.
Police say between 8 and 9 additional kids were at the home when the near drowning occurred. None of them were in the pool at the time.
Investigators said they still have to conduct more interviews.
