There are few days that can compete on a calendar with the start of college football. And for Irish football fans, August 4th, has been circled on their schedules since the end of last year. The first Notre Dame football practice. The Irish back on the field with no pads, just cleats and helmets.
An opportunity for the group, who haven't seen the coaches in months, to get back up to speed, both with the staff and the game. And take it for what it's worth, Everett Golson took the first full reps with the first string offense. Afterwards, Andrew Hendrix and Gunner Kiel rotated in. Although Kelly said Golson was rewarded for his superb play in the Spring game, that's why he took the snaps. He added that Hendrix had a great practice today and could take the first sting snaps at tomorrow's practice.
And Kelly knows that entering his third year, there are high expectations for the team. He says though, and the players agree, the leadership has never been as high during the Kelly Era as it is now.
