Victims of Sunday shooting in South Bend identified


The victims of Sunday's shooting on N. Olive St. in South Bend have been identified.  The St. Joseph County Prosecutors office says 53-year-old Johnnie Avance and 55-year-old Donald Paris, Sr. were killed.

A firefight involving a suspect and police happened when officers arrived on the scene around 10:00am on Sunday.  The suspected gunman shot at officers, who returned fire, injuring him. The suspect was arrested on an outstanding Marion County warrant.  He is currently at an area hospital being treated for his injuries.

County Metro Homicide is continuing to investigate.
